This Tuesday, the Committee for Political Affairs and Democracy in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe met.

During the meeting, the rapporteur was appointed for the confiscation of Russian assets and their use for repairing the damage caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

According to the media, Lulzim Basha has been entrusted with the position of rapporteur for confiscation of Russian assets.

Basha is one of the people accused of Russian funding. This scandal was also reported by the world's main media such as "BBC" and "AFP", then "Voice of America".

In September 2022, "BBC" reported that Russia had spent about 500 million dollars to support the Democratic Party of Albania in the 2017 elections, when the right was led by Lulzim Basha.

Russian funding has been denounced earlier, while Basha has never given a clear explanation for Russian money in DP.

On the other hand, CNA has provided a document that shows that Lulzim Basha cannot participate in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe without the approval of Gazment Bardhi as General Secretary of the DP.

In the letter, the General Secretary of the Assembly, Genci Gjonçaj, by order of Speaker Lindita Nikolla, asks Bardhi for approval to allow Basha as a member of the Monitoring Commission to participate in the Assembly.
