Opposition parliamentary parties in the great test for democracy

"Movement for National Development", as a subject with a prominent national and democratic identity, as well as with impeccable morals towards the voters, but also we, the leaders of this political force, with contributions and long experience in politics, have a moral and political obligation to contribute to a fair and functional democracy in Albania.

Our major obligation and goal is to restore to the Albanian voters the trust in free, fair, reliable and accepted elections by the competitors, for a real representative democracy in the upcoming Assembly of Albania.

The "Movement for National Development", since the beginning of 2023, has announced its main priority, the Electoral Reform for the political elections of 2025.

In this framework:

- LZHK in September 2023 became the initiator of a group of 31 deputies from different parties, in drafting and submitting to the Parliament of Albania a substantial draft for the Electoral Reform.

- On 24.05.2025 LZHK held the national meeting only for Electoral Reform, with its four pillars:

· Voting equality, with national proportional system or 4 constituencies

.Open lists

· Electronic voting and counting

· Diaspora vote

- On July 5, 2024, LZHK organized a roundtable on the Electoral Reform with all national and international political and institutional actors and factors, to discuss the opposition's position on this major issue in the Parliament of Albania in a unified manner. This table was useful and took on special importance, as we must emphasize that today in Albania, the reduction and unification of the opposition on capital issues of democracy in Albania is unfortunately difficult.

Today and tomorrow (July 25 and 26) the last sessions of this session will be held in the Assembly of Albania, where the Electoral Reform for the political elections of 2025 will be discussed and approved.

LZHK, committed specifically and impartially for an Electoral Reform that restores the voters' confidence that Albania can hold fair democratic elections, draws attention to the fact that it is the moment when all opposition parliamentary parties will be put to the great test before democracy and Albanians.

Therefore, the "Movement for National Development" calls on the parliamentary parties: More! After 34 years, the Albanians should be given the opportunity and all the conditions should be created to hold free, fair, reliable elections accepted by the competitors. This is a mission, not a routine agenda!/ CNA
