The protest is over, now what?

The July 11 protest will be long remembered as it succeeded in accomplishing many of its objectives.
With the mass march on the Boulevard, in extremely hot temperatures, democrats, citizens and civil society activists established a balance in the public sphere dominated by government propaganda, which, through the media it controls, denies any problems and only parades successes .
The people of the square showed the other reality, the dominant one in fact, of great economic problems, poverty, health, injustices.
The political goal of the protest was also realized, since the demands of the Opposition, for a technical government as a condition for free and fair elections and for the release of the DP leader, are also demands of society, massively supported by the people.
The July 11 protest was certainly not the last, and no one expects a reversal of the status quo from such activity.
Protest is not just organizing and coming together on one date. It is a condition, it is a way of acting, it is a lifestyle.
That of July 11 was a remarkable contribution in this direction, breaking the indolence and numbness.
Likewise, keeping alive the spirit of resistance, in the face of a government that does not count people, does not have them in the notebook at all, but acts and makes decisions as if no one existed, except for the prime minister, his ministers and a handful of clients with whom share the favors and wealth of the country.
The summer lethargy was broken and the arrogance of power received an answer.
The future protests continue at already defined milestones.
They start from the signs left by July 11.
The history of these 11 years, and what rebirth it will do in the months leading up to the election, will simply give justice to July 11th, and inspire even more people to resist, to stand, to raise their voices, to protest, to unite with the Opposition.
Sheshi is the precious proofreader in a society where the government has seized all power, has its hand extended everywhere, has closed spaces and does not accept contestation.
The more it goes on this course, the more citizens will be added to the next meeting, the more the pressure on the caste will increase, the more the guarantees for the realization of the main demands of the Opposition will increase.
The government will quickly understand that the cost of ignoring the people, the Opposition, the disappointed people, is greater than the cost of accepting the reality and considering the demands for free and fair elections.
When protest becomes a state, and resistance an institution, no regime can triumph./ CNA
