The short parade of the secretary of state Antony Blinken in Tirana has thrown a cold shower to the illusions of all those opponents who hope that the US does not support an anti-democratic regime in Tirana.

The words, "an outstanding leader and a very good prime minister", in the address of Edi Rama, put a lid on all accusations, that the head of the government who bribed the highest FBI official ever recruited, was since then unwanted for this US administration.

For a long time, among the opponents and critics of the Albanian autocrat, there was an absurdity, expressed publicly, that the McGonigal scandal once and for all burned Rama in the eyes of officials across the Atlantic. Someone speculated that the file that Duman is investigating was a directive from Washington, others that Blinken had not even given him a hand at the UN, and someone else that Soros' lobbying was no longer drinking water.

No it's not like that. Blinken not only came to Tirana, not only praised Rama, but above all he refused to meet with any kind of his opponents within the country.

So the message of his visit is clear: if you do not like Edi Rama, if you believe that he is corrupt, if you insist that he is robbing and depopulating Albania, do not count the USA in the battle against him. In Washington, they appreciate more the help for the Afghans who were left behind, after they could not export democracy to the east, the base of Kuçova which they can use after next month, than the democratic scruples of a geopolitically insignificant country.

Once again, the useful idiots who idealistically believe in the morality of hyperpower and its concern for the democratic progress of Albania, have surely been disappointed. And there was no way it could happen otherwise. If in the great global arena Blinken can leave any legacy, in the history of this country he will be etched with the act non grata, which irreparably divided the opposition, completing the installation of an authoritarian regime.

Between this act and today's glories is a whole story. There should be counted the greeting for the "historic victory" of the elections, the result of the 2021 electoral massacre has not yet been released, the threats to the politicians who demonstrated against the government with American flags, the congratulations for the election of the constitutional judges of the coast of Lana, then Venice considered illegal, turning a blind eye to breaking the electoral agreement of June 5, up to the calls for eating grass.

So in short, if Rama's regime is what it is today, it is also thanks to the American 'carta bianca'.

To anyone aware of it, Antony Blinken's eight-hour visit was hardly news. While for others, who dream of a savior America, our great strategic ally, to whom we must blindly obey, a question remains: Can they explain the words: "an outstanding leader and a very good prime minister", in the address of Edi Rama?
