In fact, this is a metaphor, but it proves the metamorphosis of a political party and a politician who has ruled or been the main actor of the political scene for nearly 3 and a half decades.

I was hoping that the focus of the public debate, this year, would shift to the government and the results of governance, but unfortunately, it is once again the opposition and the 'Street of Hope' that is attracting attention. I have been in televised debates these days with Mr. Berisha's supporters, and I asked them:

-Rama, no matter how corrupt he is, is not removed from power only with accusations, but with a better political and governing offer. What is your offer?

-Sali Berisha, this is the best alternative and offer!

It started with two fingers up, it ended with two fingers down!

That was the answer I got.

In that political formation, there are some MPs who stay below Berisha's house, because they see it as the only possibility to be on a list of candidates. There are some citizens who simply adore him as a political leader, and there is nothing to judge here.

What about the others, those who know very well that PD (or whatever its new name is), with Berisha at the head, will not go to power, what do they do? What are they waiting for? With or without "non grata", Berisha neither can nor should come to power again. He made his story. Those who go every afternoon to the "Road of Hope" are participating with their clear conscience in the political funeral of a party, which started with two thumbs up and hundreds of thousands of worshipers in the squares, and ended with a few dozen people watching Berisha with two fingers down to greet you.

The end of a party is a common one. While the end of an opposition is a big problem for a society.
