Renato Balestra, Italian fashion icon, passes away

The Italian designer Renato Balestra, one of the well-known names in fashion, passed away yesterday evening. Balestra closed his eyes in Rome at the age of 98.

The Italian news agency ANSA.it writes that the two daughters of the designer, Fabiana and Federica, together with their granddaughter Sofia, announced the sad news.

His granddaughter is expected to take over the leadership of the "Balestra Maison" brand. Renato Balestra will be escorted to his final residence on Tuesday November 29 in the capital at the church of Santa Maria del Popolo.

Balestra  hapi atelienë e tij të parë në 1959 në Romë. Balestra është cilësuar si një stolist që ka mbajtur gjallë modën  në Romë, madje edhe në dekadat në të cilat moda  dukej se ishte zhdukur nga kryeqyteti Italian.

I lindur në një familje arkitektësh dhe inxhinierësh, ai u dallua për shpirtin e tij artistik dhe u përcaktua si “piktori i modës”.

Ato çfarë e benin Balesten të njohur ishin qëndisjet e tij artistike dhe përzierja e pëlhurave dhe transparencave të ndryshme, emri i tij lidhej me një ngjyrë të veçantë – blu Balestra.

His strong passion for cinema led him to design costumes for Ava Gardner in "The Barefoot Contessa" and "The Sun Also Rises;" for Gina Lollobrigida in "Beautiful but dangerous"; for Sophia Loren in "Lucky to Be a Woman" and for Candice Bergen in "Adventurers", among others.
