Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza have killed at least 22 people, mostly women and children, Palestinian officials said on October 27.

The Gaza Health Ministry's emergency service said 11 women and two children were among 22 people killed during an attack late Saturday in Beit Lahija in northern Gaza. This minister said that 15 people were injured, adding that the number of victims could increase. Most of the victims were from three families.

The Israeli military said it carried out precision strikes on militants in a building in Beit Lahija, adding that it had taken steps to avoid casualties among the casualties.

Israel has carried out daily airstrikes across Gaza since Hamas — the Palestinian group designated a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union — attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing nearly 1,200 people and kidnapping nearly 250 others. More than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, a truck crashed into a bus station near the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, injuring dozens of people, authorities said. The circumstances of this incident are unclear, but Palestinians have carried out dozens of such attacks in recent years. This event took place on a street near the headquarters of the Israeli spy agency, Mossad.

Also, in addition to the war in Gaza, Israel is conducting an air and ground offensive against Hamas, the militant group and political party that controls most of southern Lebanon. Two people were injured after a drone strike from Lebanon hit an industrial area in northern Israel, authorities said. Meanwhile, Israel has carried out airstrikes in a neighborhood of Beirut./REL
