Rubio holds phone conversation with Turkish minister/Discussions on the situation in the region and Ukraine

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke by phone to discuss key regional issues. The conversation between the two senior officials included developments in Syria, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and efforts to establish a ceasefire in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

During the conversation, the two top diplomats also reviewed bilateral relations and exchanged views on current global challenges. The discussion emphasized cooperation in addressing humanitarian needs in Gaza, where the situation remains dire.

Efforts to reach a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine were also on the agenda, with both sides sharing perspectives on diplomatic solutions and regional stability.

Fidan and Rubio met earlier this month, on April 3, in the Belgian capital of Brussels as part of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers./CNA
