Former Kosovo Speaker of Parliament, Nexhat Daci, passes away

Nexhat Daci, politician and former speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, passed away at the age of 82.

Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo in the ninth legislature, Dimal Basha, tearfully shared the bitter news through a post on social media.

"With vision, prudence and dedication, Mr. Daci contributed to building democratic institutions, strengthening the Assembly as the voice of citizens and advancing political processes on the eve of Kosovo's statehood," Basha said.

The life and political career of Nexhat Daci

He was born in Tenoc in 1944, where he completed his primary education. He completed his secondary education in Leskoc, and completed his university studies at the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences (Department of Chemistry) in Belgrade in 1966. He received his doctorate in 1973 at the University of Zagreb, and continued his postdoctoral studies in England, at the University of Bradford in 1974.

After completing his master's degree, in 1968 he began working as an assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy in the Department of Chemistry. In 1971, he continued working as a lecturer and then as a professor at the University of Prishtina.

During his academic work, he has participated in several scientific studies, congresses and conferences around the world. He has been a member of the American Chemical Society since 1985 and of several other international institutions. Meanwhile, he became part of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences in 1993. /CNA
