Chaos over the last 24 hours/ Eurostar resumes train service across the English

Eurostar has announced that train services across the English Channel have resumed today, but warned that there could be some delays and last-minute cancellations after a power outage in the tunnel on Tuesday that halted train services for most of the day. 

The outage, caused by a fault in the system's power supply, disrupted the plans of thousands of passengers in London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam on Tuesday during one of the busiest weeks of the year.

"Services have resumed today following a power outage in the Channel Tunnel yesterday and other rail infrastructure issues overnight. We plan to operate all of our services today, however due to the after-effects there may be some delays and possible last-minute cancellations ," Eurostar said in a statement.

Thousands of passengers on this line were left stranded over the festive period after the railway company suspended all its services between London and mainland Europe yesterday due to a technical problem.

Rail services have been in chaos over the past 24 hours, with passengers stranded for more than six hours on trains, while delays are affecting Eurostar services. /CNA
