"Financial freedom is over"/ Alice Weidel against the digital euro:

The chairwoman of the right-wing Alternative for Germany party, Alice Weidel, has categorically spoken out against the digital euro.

In a statement, Weidel said that with this method, the state can track every transaction and every financial movement in real time. According to her, this is political repression and the disappearance of financial freedoms. 

"The digital euro is nothing more than an instrument for total surveillance of citizens. This is not about technological progress, but about the phased abolition of cash."

If the state can track every transaction, every purchase, every financial movement in real time, then financial freedom is over. Programmable money means they can dictate what you are allowed to spend your money on and what you are not.

"This is political repression in its purest form. We as the AfD categorically reject the digital euro and fight for the preservation of cash as a vital right of freedom ," Weidel said. /CNA
