Macron will attend the Ukrainian peace summit

French President Emmanuel Macron will attend a Ukrainian peace summit to be held in Switzerland in the middle of this month, the French Presidency announced on Thursday.

Zelensky's spokesman, Serhiy Nykyforov, said 107 countries and international organizations have confirmed participation in the June 15-16 summit, which Ukraine hopes will win broad international support for its vision of the conditions needed for to end the war with Russia.

The White House announced on June 4 that US Vice President Kamala Harris will represent the US at the summit.

Kiev welcomed the announcement on June 5, even though it had called on President Joe Biden to attend.

Russia has not been invited to the summit organized by Ukraine. Moscow has rejected the importance of this summit in Switzerland, saying that peace talks without Russia "have no meaning".

The Swiss government is hosting the event at the request of Ukraine. Russia started the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022./ Rel
