"The threat of Serbia is real", Kurti: We must be prepared

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in the show Debate by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN, said that the threat from Serbia is real.

He emphasized that Kosovo is preparing for the Serbs to think twice if they want to attack.

Albin Kurti's answer: 

Serbia constantly makes threats, but we don't know when they will materialize. Experience and history teach us that the one who makes threats will one day actualize the threats. We must be alert and as prepared as possible, that is why we are strengthening our army, we have removed the ceiling for soldiers, we have chosen the age of soldiers from 23 to 25 years old. In 3 years, we have added 1852 soldiers to the FSK, and 600 new soldiers will come this year. From the USA, we are buying Javelin anti-tank missiles, while from Turkey we are buying Bayraktar drones. In addition, we have quadrupled the number of trainings for soldiers and officers abroad, the defense budget has doubled. We are doing this precisely because there is a real threat from Serbia, which is often accompanied by threats from Russia. That saying "the battle is over, but the war is not over", the opposite applies here, with Serbia "the war is over, but the battle is not over" in the international arena, around our borders, in the fight against organized crime, we constantly have battles, where we have to face Serbia, which does not distance itself from Milosevic, does not distance itself from Putin, does not accept the crimes committed in Kosovo and does not recognize our independence.

Recently, they did a military exercise in Peshter of Sanxhak, about 30 kilometers from the border with Kosovo, only 3 kilometers from Montenegro and with offensive weapons. They did not do this in Vojvodina from Hungary, but they did it in the direction from Montenegro and Kosovo. It is very clear that their nervousness about the success of the state of Kosovo is being translated into increased aggressiveness. Therefore, we also need to take measures to be as prepared as possible, so that they think twice before attacking us, so that they do not attack us. If they decide to attack us, then they will fail as they have done many times./CNA
