Good news for Kosovo/ the Committee of Ministers "gives the green

The Ministerial Committee of the Council of Europe, which represents the 46 member states, decided today to forward the request for Kosovo's membership to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

This decision was taken at the extraordinary meeting, with more than 2/3 of the votes.

The news was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla.

Through a status on social networks, Gërvalla qualifies this as a historic step that completes an important stage towards full membership.

"For our new state, today's decision is a historic step, perhaps the most important after our independence. With this decision, an important stage towards full membership is completed.

A lot of work remains to be done. The membership process is long and full of challenges. But at the end of the process, the Republic of Kosovo will take its rightful place as a member of the Council of Europe" , she writes, among other things.

She further emphasizes that Kosovo has a lot of work to do and many challenges to face.

" When in May of last year, less than a year ago, we submitted the request for membership to the Council of Europe, the number of skeptics was large. Today we know how important and decisive the courage of those days was.

Thanks to the steadfast will of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo for the rule of law and democracy, expressed in the mass vote of February 14, Kosovo, as the best example of democracy in the region, will walk safely on its Euro-Atlantic path. There is still a lot of work to be done, many challenges to face, but today deserves to be celebrated in a dignified way ", the minister emphasizes./ CNA.al
