The Vetëvendosje movement said it won "convincingly" in the races for mayors in North Mitrovica and Leposavic.

According to Armend Muja, head of the Vetëvendosje Movement in Mitrovica, his party won over 60 percent of the votes in the elections for mayors in the four municipalities in the north.

He claimed that in North Mitrovica they won over 65 percent of the votes, while in Leposavic over 70 percent.

"The closest race is in Zubin Potok", he told the media.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the Vetëvendosje Movement for mayor of North Mitrovica Municipality, Erden Atiq, said that he will be the new mayor of this municipality.

"I will be the mayor of all citizens without distinction. We have big jobs ahead of us. I appeal to all citizens to have faith in the institution of the municipality and in me as mayor", he told the media.

Atic said that he will cooperate with all communities.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has announced victory in Zubim Potok and Zveçan. Meanwhile, the Vetëvendosje Movement has announced victory in North Mitrovica and Leposaviq.

This was announced by the KosovaPress teams in the north. As for Zveçan, the Vetëvendosje Movement says that they are waiting for the results.

According to the CEC, in the extraordinary local elections for the mayors of North Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zveçan and Zubin Potok, 1,567 citizens voted.

The elections were boycotted by Lista Serbe, the Serbian party supported by Serbia, which until now has led the four municipalities in northern Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs.
