Iran: We have provided technology for supersonic missiles

Iran has secured the technology needed to produce supersonic cruise missiles.

This technology is still in the testing phase, Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on August 9.

The announcement comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf with the United States and after new ships equipped with missiles with a range of 600 kilometers were unveiled last week.

"This missile, which is a new generation of Iranian-made cruise missiles, is currently being tested and will be a new chapter in Iran's defense power," Tasnim reported.

The speed of supersonic missiles exceeds that of sound or an average of 3,701 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, in June of this year, Iran claimed to have created a hypersonic missile, which it said is capable of defeating air defenses and flying at 15 times the speed of sound./ REL
