Greece presents maritime space plan/ Tensions with neighboring countries begin

Greece has completed its maritime spatial planning, as announced by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Environment and Energy, which also published the relevant official map.

The plan aims to organize activities in marine areas to achieve a balance of ecological, economic and social objectives.

"For the first time, our country is setting the rules for organizing its maritime space," a statement said.

In November last year, the European Commission published a map outlining Greece's maritime zones, recognizing the full legal effect of all islands, including Kastellorizo ??in the southeastern Aegean. In response, Turkey's Foreign Ministry issued a statement stating that it would take all necessary measures to protect our rights in the Aegean and Cyprus.

Although NATO allies, Greece and Turkey have been at odds for years over borders in the Aegean and eastern Mediterranean, with escalating tension bringing them close to war several times in recent decades.
