Eight drivers in handcuffs/ Police make a name for themselves with fines

Eight drivers in handcuffs, three of whom were arrested for excessive alcohol consumption and five others for driving without a valid driver's license.

This is the announcement of the Lezha Police, which, among other things, announces that a total of 2053 drivers have been punished with administrative measures.

Lezha Traffic Police, present 24/7, on all road axes, with the aim of preventing accidents and guaranteeing road safety.

The axes are continuously monitored, with modern logistics equipment, logged and unlogged, for the purpose of traffic management, as well as identifying violations that are a source of accidents and incorrect parking that become obstacles to traffic.

During January 2025, 8 drivers were arrested, 3 of them for drunk driving and 5 for driving without a license.

Also, a total of 2053 drivers were administratively punished, specifically:
* 845, for speeding beyond the allowed speed limits;
* 341, for wrongful overtaking;
* 173, for using a mobile phone while driving;
* 22, for not wearing a protective helmet;
* 31, for not wearing a seat belt;
* 23, for driving after consuming alcoholic beverages;
* 373, for wrongful parking;
* 245, for other violations of the Road Code.

Traffic Police checks continue on all urban, interurban and rural road axes, using all modern logistical means, with the aim of meeting road safety parameters.

The Lezha Traffic Police appeals to all drivers to strictly enforce the traffic rules, not to overtake incorrectly, not to use a mobile phone while driving and not to drive under the influence of alcohol or in a drunken state.
