Rainfall situation in Lezha Region/ Homes surrounded by water, Drojë River

The territory of Lezhë District continues to be affected by rainfall. According to data from the Gjadër Military Meteorological Station, 29 mm of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours.

The Kurbin Police Operations Room and the municipality's Civil Emergency structures report that, at around 06:00, a family near Hidrovor i Drojës, Fushë Mamurras, requested assistance after being surrounded by water. Municipal services are being organized to come to their aid.

The problem also remains the houses near the Laç-Mamurras road, in the neighborhood no. 5 of Sandzhak and in the village of Gjorm, where 5-6 houses are surrounded by water. These are the changes recorded overnight, since the last report.

The breach in the Drojë River embankment, on the left side of the flow (Durrës), remains a concern, which has led to overloading of the Drojë and Shëllinza reservoirs and has caused an increase in the water level in the agricultural lands of the Adriatic area, as well as in the villages of the Fush Kuqe Administrative Unit.

The Municipality of Lezha reports that during the night, teams from the Ministry of Environment and Civil Emergencies intervened to remove water from a house in Shëngjin and a gym in the city of Lezha. The teams also verified cases of landslides near houses in the villages of Torovicë, Tresh and in the Sheher neighborhood of the city.

No problems have been reported from the Mirditë Police Operations Room and the Civil Emergencies of the Mirditë municipality since the last report.

According to DRUK, all the hydropower plants in the Lezha Region have been working without interruption, but the Drojë and Shëllinza hydropower plants in the Kurbin Municipality remain the most problematic, as they are operating at critical levels due to damage to the Drojë River embankment. /CNA
