Peleshi announces the meeting of the Council for Regulation/PD: Unconstitutional

The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has reacted to the announcement of the Speaker of the Assembly for the meeting of the Council on Rules of Procedure, Mandates and Immunity on April 15, 2026, where changes to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly are expected to be reviewed.

In an official statement, the opposition describes this action as unprecedented and contrary to the principles of the rule of law, emphasizing that the meeting is being called without the Constitutional Court's decision on the matter in question being made public.

According to the Democratic Party, the draft decision includes provisions that were previously repealed by the Constitutional Court, which, according to it, constitutes ignoring the authority of this institution and violating public trust.

The reaction also mentions a double standard on the part of the Speaker of the Assembly, who had previously refused for months to call a meeting on another issue, awaiting the decision of the Constitutional Court, while in this case he acted differently.

The DP condemns this action as a provocation and considers the announcement of the Council meeting as unconstitutional, demanding respect for the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the basic principles of the rule of law./ CNA
