On the eve of Easter, the European Union Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, held a meeting with the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, Joan Pelushi.

During this meeting, Ambassador Gonzato conveyed his warmest congratulations on the occasion of Easter to all believers of the Orthodox community in the country.

The focus of the conversation was the important role that the Orthodox community plays in Albanian society. The Ambassador also praised the continued support of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania for the country's European integration process.

The parties shared the belief that religious communities should continue to promote interfaith dialogue, as a key element for strengthening peaceful coexistence and harmony in Albania.

"It was a pleasure to meet with the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania, Joan Pelushi. On the eve of Easter, I conveyed my warmest greetings to the entire Orthodox community.

"During the meeting, we discussed the important role of the Orthodox community in Albania and I appreciated the continued support of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania for the European integration process. We also shared the common belief that religious communities should continue to foster interfaith dialogue to strengthen peaceful coexistence in Albanian society," said EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.
