2024-06-07 19:18:00, Aktualitet CNA

The Distribution System operator has increased readiness with the start of the summer tourist season. The company has taken all measures to guarantee an uninterrupted and quality supply of electricity to all subscribers throughout the country.

In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, the administrator of OSSH, Blendian Dalipi and the leaders of the regions throughout the country, reported today the plan of measures for a better management of the situation throughout the season.

Minister Balluku announced that according to all the data, this year it is expected that there will be a greater flow of visitors, compared to previous years, so the commitment should be maximum to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of energy throughout the country.

"The season, unlike other years, has already started, despite the fact that we are gathering in the first week of June, we are all aware that the influx of tourists has started since the beginning of May and will probably end at the end of October from all the information we have. Of course, the task forces that are on the ground have been set up, of course there is a commitment from all the work groups, but the DSO plays an extremely important role for the entire success of this season", Balluku emphasized.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy further added that the main attention will be focused along the coastline, but without leaving aside the mountainous areas where there has been a great development of tourism in recent years. Balluku said that the investments made for the rehabilitation and strengthening of the substations, or the interventions for the improvement of the distribution network and electric cabins, will affect a better management of the situation.

"The main focus is on the western lowlands, as the area with the highest density of hotels and commercial units that serve tourism, but we should not neglect the fact that we already have hotel units in the mountainous areas, which in terms of investments are not have the same amount of investment as the western lowlands or major cities have had. So there probably needs to be more attention with the working groups and the ready groups that we need to have in the field. The coordination has been good until today", said Balluku, adding that in addition to the management of the season, work should continue to improve the performance indicators by reaching the set targets.

The administrator of OSSH, Blendian Dalipi, gave an overview of all the investments made in these years to improve the quality of energy supply, adding that during the season 1128 employees will be engaged throughout the country to intervene at any moment where problems will appear.

"We intervened in 23 substations through repairs. We repaired 291 kilometers of high voltage lines only on the coast and 950 kilometers of lines in the total of all the assets we have, 35 kilovolt lines. We repaired 574 kilometers of medium voltage line and 131 kilometers of low voltage line, as well as intervened in 1252 cabins", said Dalipi.

The heads of DSO regions across the country reported the measures taken in each relevant directorate to manage the situation.
