Some lobbying companies or law firms, those defending Veliaj or those pursuing Berisha, Meta or other corrupt officials, continuously hold public positions attacking justice reform in Albania and in particular SPAK.
That the justice reform needs criticism is not discussed and there must definitely be improvement. That SPAK has prosecutors who sleep on files is also a known fact, but it is the only institution that is fighting corruption and this is also stated in the latest EU report that "There is no Europe without SPAK".
Now some lobbying companies or law firms come, some of them have nothing to do with criminal law, they come from Britain, the USA, they seek to speak publicly, take positions, create strategies, and no one stops them.
But, when they start and put their stamp on it, since they are English or American, in Albania SPAK has violated the law, as in the specific case where we are told by a British law firm that he is being held in prison without charge, and you will see what justice is doing in Strasbourg, etc.
Law firms that deal with 1001 things that probably don't know anything about criminal law. They don't know anything about criminal law because if they knew even two lines, you just have to ask a criminal lawyer in the capital, the law is clear: When you tamper with evidence, you go to jail.
And, Erion Veliaj has gone to prison on 13 charges so far, 9 of which are for corruption and tampering with evidence, and all levels of courts have left him in prison, despite the allegations.
But they want an indictment, to be prosecuted at large, and for the charges to go to court quickly.
Quickly go to court so that they can then say that the evidence was collected and Erion Veliaj should be free, or say that justice did not do its job exactly on time, in case a 6-month investigation is requested.
-How can a law firm and a lobbying firm come from abroad and make a mess of all of Albania with positions, thoughts, actions, and criticism?
-What if a law firm from Albania goes to England and says the system in England is not good? Why is a mayor being unjustly held in prison?
-What if a law firm from Albania went to Greece and said what these English people in the EU say?
-What would happen if the same law firm went and said such nonsense in Germany or Italy, that Erion Veliaj is being held in prison without charges?
Erion Veliaj has been arrested and the courts have found the actions taken by SPAK correct and have kept him in prison.
In Albania, the Code has it defined, the Prosecution investigates, the Court verifies. The Court has verified, evaluated and finally issued a decision.
Now some foreigners come and attack SPAK along with some wretched media, while the EU comes out openly and says that this institution is on the right track and these media and these law firms have not done this for Vangjush Dako, nor for Ilir Beqaj, nor for dozens of others, but now that the "Veliaj" case has happened, let it be blown up. Let the justice reform burn, it is better to destroy it altogether than to have independent institutions that can act and fight corruption.
The reform, as we emphasized above, may have problems, justice certainly does, but they need to be corrected, such as the case of the capture of the Supreme Court by people from the Socialist Party who were influenced by Edi Rama, and this was stated by "Rama's main advisor", Mero Baze.
There is definitely a need. We have a shameful Constitutional Court, but we also have an institutional SPAK that fights for the implementation of the law and the implementation of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The English and Americans cannot come and make Maliqi above the law, because it was American and British citizens, their taxpayers, who financed the justice reform, so that the battle against corruption could be fought.
And now, the money that citizens have given, lobbying companies, law firms come and take it, fill their pockets and run away, as happened with the DP lobbyist in the US, as happened with the campaign consultants, as happened with other law firms that we have heard about continuously, they come and take a bunch of money and then look at the work.
But now they have not only come, not only talk, but they want to destroy the reform so that Erion Veliaj can get out of prison, while there are 13 charges, 9 of which are for corruption./ CNA
