Analyst Mentor Kikia spoke harshly about the situation in the area near the Elbasan landfill.

Invited to the show 'Log.', Kikia said that a pure environmental disaster occurred in this landfill and called it a bathtub with ashes burned by fires.

Kikia criticized the lack of measures and work by institutions on this case.

"Two structures are condemned to deal with the irresponsibility of others, with the irresponsibility of the state in the case of landfills and with the irresponsibility of the individual, when a shepherd burns everything with a match or with the irresponsibility of an arsonist who burns for fun. In the case of landfills, Elbasan should have served as a stopping point, or more precisely a red line, so that we could think carefully. It was not just a fire, but a pure environmental catastrophe. I do not know how the investigation process will continue. What I can say is that it is the biggest environmental disaster in Albania. The one in Elbasan is not a landfill, but a superficial place. It was a tub where the burnt ash of the incinerator was to be thrown, which was "burned" without starting. There is a mountain there where waste is dumped into nature with absolute zero environmental criteria. Incineration is not natural there, it is intentional to eliminate the mountain with waste that "They have nowhere to throw the rest," said Kikia./CNA
