The Director of the Institute for Albanian Municipalities, Agron Haxhimali, said today that the release of public spaces requires institutional interaction and not simply orders from Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In an interview with CNA TV, Haxhimali stated that citizens who give power through voting do not deserve to receive public services only through actions, spectacle, and propaganda.
"Why should the Albanian government, municipality or institutions work with shares? In the architecture of the Albanian state, power has been given to the vote of citizens and they pay money regularly, so that they can receive services without shares, without flows, without spectacles, without propaganda, but receive them on a daily and continuous basis. There are inherent problems with what is said about the performance of municipalities, but I think it should function with the qualities of each party and we should have checks and balances between institutions, accountability and responsibility for each party that performs legal duties," said Haxhimali./CNA
