The former prime minister Sali Berisha has published a denunciation that comes from Korça, and that is related to the phenomenon of bankruptcy of the fruit culture in this district.
Farmers in Korça complain that the lands have been abandoned, and that they are not helped at all by the government, which follows a criminal policy towards them, letting them leave the country.
"I greet you from the Municipality of Korça. I am in this fruit plantation, almost 2 and a half hectares planted with trees and apples of different types.
And we see that this plantation is abandoned, no work by its owner, no spraying, no fertilizing.
It's not just this area in the city of Korça, as hundreds of hectares have been abandoned throughout the county, during 2024.
It was the year 2023, when there was a huge hailstorm in the entire district that damaged about 80% of the production, and the government did not give help, not even financial assistance.
So we see that the lands and fields are abandoned, because the Albanian government does not help the farmer, the farmer, the herdsman. Maybe this is a criminal policy that this government is doing, so that everyone leaves this country. This whole area has been left barren.”/ CNA
