The EU comes out against Meta, supports SPAK: their work is the key to rooting

The Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato has reacted regarding the recent attacks towards the Special Prosecutor's Office, SPAK and its head Altin Dumani.

Gonzato said that the European Union fully supports the new justice institutions and the 2016 justice reform.

"We fully support the new justice institutions and the 2016 justice reform, which enabled them to deliver justice to citizens.

Their work is the key to uprooting corruption from Albania. At the meeting of the EU project for Justice, I emphasized that the integration in the EU depends a lot on their contribution.

Justice delivered in a timely, effective and transparent manner is the key to restoring citizens' trust in institutions.

The European Union will stand by Albania's side in achieving this objective", said Gonzato./

In recent days, the former president and at the same time the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has launched an unprecedented attack on the head of this institution.

He addressed him with serious insults, labeling Altin Dumani as "legen, tarlarlak, Dum Dumani, ignorant, palazzo, laraska, cockroach", and openly revealing the fact that all this is a personal attack on the head of SPAK , and that the truth is that Meta is afraid of the investigations that SPAK has opened against him.  

Therefore, this reaction of the head of the European Union Delegation can be read as a literal message addressed to Ilir Meta, openly and clearly expressing their position, alongside SPAK and Altin Duman. / CNA
