The electric substation of Lezha is undergoing a complete reconstruction, which will double its existing capacities, making it possible to accommodate all the needs of the city, as well as increasing the security of energy supply for the residents of the area and businesses, in order especially those of the tourism sector. This substation was built in 1960 and since then there have been partial interventions, but never a complete reconstruction.
The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, accompanied by the director of OSSH, Blendian Dalipi and the mayor of Lezhë Municipality, Pjerin Ndreu inspected the progress of the works in this facility, which will initially focus on raising the level of the substation for avoid its flooding as a result of intense rainfall.
"It is the main substation for the entire district of Lezha, not only for the Shengjin area. And today up to 40 thousand subscribers are supplied from this substation. From time to time some partial interventions have been made, changing the transformers, but such an initiative has never been undertaken to have a total reconstruction", said the head of OSSH, Blendian Dalipi.
Deputy Prime Minister Balluku said that these investments not only respond to the current flow of the area, but also to its further development. The works for the reconstruction of the substation, said Balluku, will not create obstacles in the normal supply of electricity to the citizens. "There will be a doubling of the capacities of the substation, not only to accommodate all the needs of the city and those of the Shengjin area, considering that there is an increased demand, but also the other plans you have for construction in the coastal area ", Balluku said.
In the area of ??Lezha, the reconstruction of some electric cabins and the construction of some new ones has also become possible, while interventions have also been made for the reconstruction of the medium and low voltage network. "We have also made a proper investment planning for the year 2024 and what is more important and this must be said, that OSSH, like all our other construction sites, does not delay anything, moreover we are under pressure of time and we necessarily ask for the understanding of the companies we operate, as it is very necessary for us to finish all these works even before the deadlines, as is the case of this substation", said Balluku.
Mayor Ndreu, for his part, evaluating the investments made and those that are in the process, said that through them some of the concerns and demands that the residents have raised have been addressed.
The investment in the Lezha substation makes it possible to eliminate power outages due to defects, from overloading or depreciation of the old network, reducing the level of losses, as well as improving the technical security of the network in contemporary technical parameters./ CNA
