Head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi

The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted to the SPAK operation, which sent the chief prosecutor of Vlora, Aurel Zarka, behind bars.

Bardhi claims that the Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Taulant Balla, two SPAK prosecutors, prosecutor Bledar Valikaj, the husband of Ermonela Felajt, the vetting commissioner and former judge Artan Gjermeni are also included in this file.

In a status on social networks, he accuses SPAK of keeping the file secret and doing selective justice.

Gazment Bardhi's full post:

Criminal procedure no. 26, dated 07.02.2024 of the Special Prosecutor's Office Against Organized Crime and Corruption has seriously questioned the credibility of the reformed justice system in the country and there is only one way to continue to maintain public trust in justice: Equal justice, transparent and without red lines.

Selective justice, which protects some prosecutors, in the name of institutional fraternity or strong political connections, destroys public trust in SPAK in a final way.

Personally, I am shocked by the data obtained from the investigation of this case so far, which proves once again that a dozen corrupt prosecutors and judges have escaped the vetting filter. It is the duty of SPAK and GJKKO, without hiding the data, with courage and a complete and comprehensive investigation, to fulfill the mission of cleaning justice from corrupt prosecutors and judges.

Unfortunately, the data of the investigation of this case so far raise reasonable doubts that the institutional fraternity or the protection of prosecutors with strong political connections is working.

The criminal mechanism "get ready the jizhat" should bring consequences for everyone.

It does not make sense that two employees of the justice system should be in prison because they are accused of exerting illegal influence through irregular monetary benefits, while the "beneficiary" prosecutor, just because he is a family member of a deputy of Edi Rama, continues to deliver justice in the name of the Republic undisturbed.

It does not make sense that two employees of justice are rightfully in prison because they are accused of exercising illegal influence through irregular monetary benefits, while at least two SPAK prosecutors, among them Edi Rama's favorite, who are described as the prosecutor with the lowest rate or the other with the highest rate, continue to act as if they are unconcerned about fighting "crime and corruption" in the name of the Republic.

It does not make sense to order the non-publication of acts and to threaten the media with prison, just to keep secret the involvement in this matter of the meeting of the politician "Tao" with the prosecutor of the "Toyota Yaris" case.

It also makes no sense that part of the data on this matter of SKY ECC wiretapping brought by foreign authorities (Europol, Eurojust, French justice authorities, or Belgian justice authorities) should not be used for the full investigation of all sides of this issue, thinking that they will remain secret and they will not be talked about.

It makes no sense that a former judge, generally accused of being connected to the Lushnje Gang, continues unconcerned even though he is clearly the "wizard" who examines cases where illegal influence has an effect.

It makes no sense that the vetting commissioner who was mandated to cleanse the system of corruption, continues to act as if she has fulfilled this mission with integrity, while she is involved in affairs herself, on so few records that have benefited so far from this matter.

SPAK has once again been put to a serious test, whether it will bring what the honest citizens of this country expect to end impunity, or whether it will be selective and an institution with red lines. The fight against organized crime and corruption is vital for Albania's future. But it must be serious, complete, without red lines and without sparing prosecutors, judges, and politicians, in the name of institutional fraternity, strong political ties or social status "powerful, close associate of Edi Rama"!/ CNA
