6 still active fires, areas where the situation is problematic

During the last 24 hours, the situation of fires in the country has been affected by temperature and drought, requiring coordinated intervention by the operational structures of the Civil Defense, both at the local and central level.

According to the Ministry of Defense, out of 25 reported fires, 19 have been extinguished and brought under control, while 6 fires remain active and are under constant monitoring by our field teams.

A special and problematic focus, due to the difficult terrain, is the one in Shengjin village, Fan administrative unit, Mirditë municipality, where the fire has engulfed a large area of ??pasture, bushes and pine trees. Currently, the fire is under control and does not pose a danger to residential areas.

Also, the fires remain active in Surroj and Shishtavec, Kukës - Skuraj municipality, Kurbin - Sopot municipality, Delvinë and Luf municipality, Pukë municipality, but they do not pose a danger to citizens and properties.

In the last firefighting operations, the following were engaged:

- 128 fire brigades,
- 80 military forces,
- 17 State Police officers,
- 69 civil emergency structures of the local government,
- 14 employees of the administration of protected areas,
- 42 members of the forest service, and
- 52 volunteers .

Also, the Cougar helicopter was included in the operation, assisting operational structures in controlling and extinguishing fires.
Considering the high temperatures that favor the spread of fires, we invite citizens, especially farmers and ranchers, to categorically avoid starting fires for any reason. Any case of fire must be reported immediately to the relevant authorities./CNA
