Chaotic situation in Democratic Party/ What Sali Berisha’s movement showed

After losing the 2013 parliamentary elections, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha resigned from the leadership of the Democratic Party. Later, with the support of Berisha, Lulzim Basha took over the leadership of the largest opposition force in the country.

But what happened in the last 8 years under the leadership of Lulzim Basha, have plunged the DP into the most chaotic situation possible. It has degraded every day more and more towards divisions, and clashes.

During these years, CNA.al has reported with facts what was happening in the Democratic Party, the divisions, the clashes, the abandonment of any opposition cause by Lulzim Basha, who seems to have turned into a ?firefighter? of popular hatred against Prime Minister Edi Rama.

CNA.al has reported about dozens of facts, which show that it was the incompetence, actions and inaction of the DP leader, those that have kept and keep in power the Prime Minister Edi Rama, securing the latter the third governing mandate.

Also, various polls showed that Basha was in a very bad rating. But beyond abandoning any cause and betraying the democrats, on September 9, 2021, Lulzim Basha ?killed? even ?his political father?, the man who had supported him more than anyone in his political career.

Locked up in his office, without consulting the party structures, Basha expelled from the DP parliamentary group, the former Prime Minister and historical leader of the democrats, Sali Berisha.

Basha tried to justify his decision, with the fact that he could not come out against the US, after United States Department of State had declared former Prime Minister Berisha non-woman. Then the latter went down to the bases, started a movement called ?Rostrum?, thus holding meetings with democrats in every city.

Talking to them closely, listening to the problems they had. In just 3 months, Berisha held meetings in almost every city in Albania, to then come to the Assembly of December 11, 2021, where over 4.000 delegates of the Democratic Party, voted for the dismissal of Lulzim Basha from the post of chairman.

A referendum was then held on December 18, where was certified Basha?s dismissal. In fact, what Berisha?s move showed was exactly what CNA.al has denounced over the years. Berisha?s movement clearly showed that Basha has no support in the Democratic Party.

The abandonment of any cause and the betrayals of Basha, seem to have exhausted the democrats who not only no longer support him, but voted in the absolute majority for his dismissal from the post of DP chairman.

This was clearly shown even in the so-called ?Assembly?, held by Lulzim Basha at the Palace of the Congresses on December 18, at the same time as the referendum for the certification of the decision of the Assembly of December 11. The Anti-Assembly of December 18 showed that only a handful of people go after Basha, the servile people who stand around him only for one post.

Basha continued the manipulations, filling the hall of the Palace of Congresses with family members, employees of the European University of Tirana but also children. Moreover, there were only 1958 chairs in the hall of the Palace of Congresses, while Jemin Gjana claimed that over 5004 delegates were sitting there. Only Basha can ?explain? this absurdity./CNA.al
