A conflict between young people has ended in a stabbing in the village of Bulgarec in Korça, bringing back attention to violence among teenagers for weak motives. The incident took place on Wednesday evening. As a result, a 16-year-old was injured, while the suspected perpetrator, around 19 years old, was escorted by the police and then arrested at the premises of the Korça Police Station.

The grandparents of the perpetrator of the injury have spoken in detail about how they learned of the serious incident, while also sharing their version.

"They told us that a boy from the village stabbed him like this. He stabbed him in the chest with a knife. They were playing cards, no I won, no you won. They were fighting and he stabbed him with a knife. We are close to the other family, we had regular visits and the child did not have anything. The fight was about the game, as the boy told us. When I see the boy, I remember that. He is in high school. We have not had any conflict with anyone in the village, about how that boy did this to us, how he injured our son," says Meliana Bricka, the grandmother of the injured man.

Meanwhile, another version comes from the author's family, who claim that everything happened in the moment and as a reaction to a physical confrontation.

"He (the injured man) hit his nephew with a stick, the nephew fell to the ground. According to what they told us, the nephew got up and the injured man shot him again, he made him bleed, then the nephew acted. The incident happened inside the bar. We are ours, we are cousins, they fought for nothing. My nephew is not a quarrelsome person, he is a quiet, hardworking boy. We have spoken to his father, he does not admit it, we met at the hospital, he does not accept it. We do not have any conflict with them. The injured man's condition is good, he has a scratch under his armpit. The police came and took the nephew. After the incident, he came home and told us that they hit him. These are things of the moment, not previous conflicts, they fought over a friend, why did you say this to him, why did you say that to him. We have had in-and-out relationships in the family," said Shaban Mersinaj, the author's grandfather.

The two versions given by the family members shed light on the unclear circumstances of the event, while the dynamics of the conflict remain to be fully clarified. In the meantime, authorities are continuing their investigations to fully clarify the case and determine legal responsibilities./CNA
