The endocrinologist, Dashamir Gjergji, has listed for Euronews Albania, the first 4 distinguishing signs of diabetes. 

According to him, the signs are: very thirsty, high water consumption, urination, weakness and lack of strength. 

The doctor underlined that despite the fact that this disease generally appears after the age of 30, recently there has been an increase in the number of children affected by diabetes.

"The signs come a little late and this is probably one of the technical difficulties we have, because diabetics are diagnosed a little later, after 3-4 years of having this disease. The main signs are what are known in English as '4t'. These patients are very thirsty, consume a lot of water, urinate often, on the other hand, they normally become weak and feel powerless. These are the four main signs of diabetes. If a diabetic goes to the bathroom frequently at night, he may have diabetes. However, we have target groups where we are looking for diabetes. It usually appears in people over 30 years old, but recently we often see it in children as well", said Dashamir Gjergji./ CNA
