The Chairman of the Board of the Financial Supervisory Authority is elected/

The Economy Committee approved the candidacy of Saimir Tola to be chairman of the Board of the Financial Supervisory Authority.

Saimir Tola, graduated with a Master of Science in Mathematical Engineering, completed his PhD in Artificial Intelligence and received the title of Associate Professor in 2022. Saimir Tola is a lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematical Engineering and Physical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, in the subjects of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Analysis, an academic formation related to actuarial science.

Candidates for this position were Artur Ribaj (previously head of the Supervision Department at AFSA), Emis Cerava, Julian Naqellari, Petrit Perhati, Saimir Tola and Valbona Sanxhaktari.

According to the law “On the Financial Supervisory Authority”, the Chairman of the Board is appointed by the Parliament, upon the proposal of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance, following a selection procedure. The mandate of each member of the Board, including the Chairman, is 5 years and they can be re-elected for a second term after the end of their mandate./CNA
