Changes to the Electoral Code for the Diaspora/ Duka calls on immigrants:

The leader of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, through a post on social networks, welcomed the changes approved yesterday in the Electoral Code regarding the vote of immigrants.

Duka writes that an important point for the Diaspora vote is the possibility of voting with the documents of the countries where they live. The head of the PAA has once again called on immigrants to register and vote in the May 11 elections.

"We welcome the changes to the Electoral Code for the vote of immigrants!"

The Agrarian Environmentalist Party welcomes the approval in parliament of amendments to the Electoral Law, to enable the diaspora to vote. Thanks to the opposition's insistence, it was possible to extend the deadline for the use of expired Biometric IDs and passports, to enable Albanian citizens with these documents to vote in these elections as well.

An important point is the law's provision for the use of biometric documents issued by other countries where Albanians work and live. However, this now requires the completion of technical details by the CEC to enable the recognition/use of these documents.

PAA has consistently defended the idea that the opportunity to vote should be given to every eligible citizen. Following these changes, we call on Albanians, regardless of where they live and work, to register and participate en masse in the vote.

We remind you that the amendments to the Electoral Code for the Diaspora vote were approved in yesterday's plenary session by the majority and the opposition with 108 votes in favor. The amendments include the payment of postage for the return of the diaspora vote and the counting. From these amendments, the registration deadline for emigrants is March 12, 2025./ CNA
