May 11th Elections/ Diaspora Vote Again Clashes the Majority and Opposition in

The Diaspora vote has once again caused debates between the majority and the opposition.

In today's plenary session, the mutual accusations and ironies continued. The Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Blendi Klosi, ironized the Democratic Party, saying that from one party they became four and that is all they can be proud of.

" We win because we have many people working, we are organized in every corner of Albania, in Greece, Italy, etc. We work for the vote, while you work for quarrels. The only thing you have done in these 4 years is fight with each other. The only thing you can be proud of is that from one party you became 4 ," said Klosi.

Further, Klosi, in his response to Gazment Bardhi, said that the Diaspora cannot vote with foreign documents as they cannot be verified.

" You don't know the tricks, colleague, because you are not part of the dome that sets the lists. You know what is said and you don't know what is thought. I didn't say document, but what is produced by mobile phone. Search Google, honorable colleague, this photo that the internet gives you, which can be manipulated at any moment. This photo coming from Belgium cannot be verified ," said Klosi.

Socialist Party MP Pandeli Majko has described the opposition's request for the Diaspora to vote with foreign documents as dangerous and adventurous.

Majko cited this as a reason that voting for immigrants could be blocked.

" This smells very bad to me, and it smells bad that I don't want to name. The two parties have agreed that voting with foreign documents will be evaluated by the Regulatory Commission. It will be a reason for voting for immigrants to be blocked, it will be irresponsible for this proposal to go to the CEC regulatory commission."

Today, as we speak, over 100,000 people have applied to vote, if we go by the logic that the regulatory commission will decide what we disagree with here, then we return to a commission of 5 members. Not taking the adventurous step of depriving citizens abroad who are already registered to vote would be a very dangerous adventure. Voting with a foreign passport is technically impossible , "said Majko.

On the other hand, the Democratic Party continues to insist on its demand for the Diaspora to vote with the documents of the country they live in. DP MP, Oerd Bylykbashi, in his speech, accused the majority of obstructing the registration of immigrants in order to reduce the number of voters to the extent that they have failed to control.

The MP also called for the CEC to make the necessary changes so that all people who wish to vote from the Diaspora can register.

"The CEC should take action to reduce the number of people whose requests to register as voters from abroad have been rejected. Their requests have been rejected, 19 percent of voters who have applied and have been rejected, perhaps due to problems with documents. The CEC should definitely take action in a focused manner by contacting them to make their registration possible."

There are 34 thousand people, 1 in 5 voters. The CEC should deal with each of them, they should help them because they have the documentation, the CEC should not hide behind cold procedures, but should help them. It is technically possible. You are trying to bring the number of voters to as much as you could control with patronage. Open the way for the CEC to make the changes and for them to register, the parliament should remove the barriers for those who want to register and vote on May 11",  he said./ CNA
