Amendment to the Electoral Code/Balla: The last obstacle to the historic diaspora vote was removed

Taulant Balla, Minister of State for Parliamentary Relations and Political Leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, reacted today after the vote in the Assembly of new changes to the New Electoral Code, which facilitate the Diaspora's vote.

Through a post on social media, Balla said that with this vote, the last obstacle to the historic vote was removed.

Balla called on emigrants to appreciate this decision by registering to vote from abroad in the May 11 elections.

"Dear Diaspora! The last obstacle to your historic vote has been removed. The Albanian Parliament has just approved amendments to the Electoral Code for covering the expenses of the CEC for sending and returning ballots and other information materials by mail; extending the deadline for candidate registration to 60 days to allow more time for sending and returning ballots; for the procedure for counting and evaluating votes from abroad, appeal procedures, etc. Therefore, please register at www.kqz.gov.al", - said Balla./CNA
