The former speaker of the Assembly, Jozefina Topalli, has brought back to attention today how 10 years ago, when Edi Rama was in the Opposition, she blocked the acquisition of candidate status in the EU.

In a post on social networks, Topalli writes that Rama in the opposition refused to vote for the three laws, which were requested by the EU, as a condition for the opening of negotiations.

" During all these years, I have been thinking about how the country can slide where it cannot be thought due to the whims or lack of skill of politicians.

10 years ago, the EU imposed a condition on Albania to vote on 3 laws.

They required 84 votes, that is, without the vote of the opposition, it would not pass.

The opposition of that time refused, inventing ridiculous excuses.

Albania paid 10 years late for the opening of negotiations ," Topalli writes.

We remind here that when the SP was in the opposition for almost 2 years in a row, it did not vote for the 3 laws, putting the Fier District as a condition, where, according to the opposition of that time, the right won by voting was denied. 

But on the other hand, the 3 laws were conditioned by Europe for integration, and despite repeated calls to vote on them, for several years Rama held hostage the granting of candidate status for the EU.

Only after the socialists voted those laws, the European Commission decided to grant candidate status to Albania./ CNA.al
