The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, during his speech at the Laws Commission, spoke about the request of the head of SPAK for clarification of the status of prosecutors after the end of the 9-year mandate.

Manja came out in support of SPAK and said that there is no reason why a group of prosecutors who have 9 years of experience in the fight against corruption should not compete in the High Council of Prosecution to be part of this structure just like the candidates other.

He said that after the end of the mandate, they should be guaranteed an equivalent position. 

"SPAK prosecutors have a 9-year mandate without the right to election. Is there a right to clarify where they will go after the end of 9 years? If you want my opinion, at the end of the day there is no reason why a group of prosecutors who have 9 years of experience in the fight against corruption should not compete in the High Prosecutorial Council to be part of this structure just like other candidates ? Undoubtedly yes. Should they have a guarantee of a position equivalent to the one they have today at the end of the 9-year mandate? Apparently so. I think that SPAK prosecutors have no reason why they should not have the right to be re-elected, and secondly, they should not lose the legal guarantees they have earned. Today they are Appellate prosecutors and must go to the Appellate or General Prosecutor's Office. While GJKKO or SPAK are permanent constitutional bodies of the state", said Manja in the Law Commission./ CNA
