50 million euro debt/ The majority approves Veliaj's loan

The majority has approved the loan of 50 million euros for the Municipality of Tirana.

With 77 votes in favor and 9 against, the deputies gave the green light to the agreement between the Municipality of Tirana and the German bank KfW for green transport in Tirana.

With the approval of this draft law, the mayor Erion Veliaj will add a loan of 50 million euros to the Albanians.

Some of the socialists in their speech in the Assembly served Veliaj, saying that this loan will help local transport.

On the other hand, the opposition opposed the agreement, saying that Veliaj has emptied the pockets of the citizens with the thefts in the municipality and claimed that he will do the same with the transport. Also, the opposition emphasized that Veliaj will increase the debts of the Albanians with the green transport.

The loan agreement with KFW, in the amount of 50 million euros, is only a part of the amount of 110 million euros that the whole project costs for the introduction of electric buses in the bus line of Unaza, Kombinat-Kinostudio and New Tirana. The rest is financed by the Municipality itself and the funds of the European Union./ CNA
