Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about Russia's influence in the Western Balkans during a panel discussion in Germany, about the European perspective.
Rama mentioned the dictator Enver Hoxha, while talking about the severed ties with Russia. He stated that Albania has close relations with Russia and has no appetite to have relations.
"Because of our history we have neither close relations nor appetite to have them with Russia because our dictator decided to get out of the Eastern Bloc and the Warsaw Pact when Khrushchev decided to change his line to Moscow. Our director decided to support Satlin.
When in other countries the Stalin monument was not in the main squares, we had Stalin in the main part of the center. Because of this, we have no appetite at all to get closer to Russia. In the 33 years since we came out of the darkness, there has never been a high-level visit to Moscow, nor a high-level visit of Russia to Tirana", said the head of the government.
Also, Rama emphasized that Russia has no influence in Kosovo either./ CNA
