Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni described the solution for migrants in the Gjadri camp as revolutionary and that it is being taken as an example by many European Union countries.

In a joint conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Meloni said that he knows very well the position of the Albanian opposition on this issue.

Meloni added that the protocol will function even better with the entry into force of the pact.

"We know very well that the opposition thinks that this initiative has not been and is not efficient because we know the opposition's position regarding the management of the migration flow. I tell you that even though there is a lot of discussion in Italy, in Europe countries gather before every EU meeting, to solve in an innovative way. There is a group that is repeating the protocol as in the Italy-Albania case. There are countries that have long wanted to make the same initiative because it is revolutionary for a number of issues that we have discussed. We know why the protocol, which will start when the pact enters into force, has not fully functioned. Here too there is room for reflection. For the countries that were not sure. The list has changed. It is easy to doubt, but what will happen when the pact enters into force, the functioning will be as it should, but 2 years are lost.
