The head of the Municipality of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has recently made a promise to pensioners.

He stated that from January 1, 2025, there will be free public transportation for all pensioners in the capital.

This is a promise that is not yet known whether or not it will be kept by the head of the municipality until next year, since he has been summoned by SPAK, for some corrupt affairs that have happened in the institution he leads. It is about the incinerator affair and the "5D" file. 


But what did Veliaj declare on April 19, 2023 about free public transportation?

During the campaign he conducted in the capital, Veliaj mocked the promises of the democrats in Shkodër for free public transport in this city.

"Try it, brother, they have a line and they can do it for free. Because if they prove to us that it works, we will do it too. As long as people are no longer lied to and as long as people have understood that there is no such thing, only with work we can do everything", said Veliaj. 

So the mayor, not only stole the idea of ??free public transportation from the Democrats, but with what he once did ironically, he now gives it himself as a promise. 

In fact, free public transport in the capital was a promise made by Belind Këlliçi during the last campaign for the head of the Municipality of Tirana.
