Report for May 11/ Berisha: Rama has chosen silence and deception to cover up

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated today that the final report by the OSCE-ODIHR on the parliamentary elections once again substantiates the DP's position that a farce took place on May 11th.

In his speech during a conference with journalists, Berisha said that on May 11, principles from European human rights conventions were violated.

Berisha accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of being silent and deceiving to cover up his failure in these elections.

"With great pleasure I tell Albanians that the elections had zero effect. I stood by the findings word for word that prove an electoral farce on May 11th."

Edi Rama has chosen silence and deception to cover up his complete and total failure to change the fatal report on the May 11 parliamentary elections by international observers.

As I had warned, as I had presented official documents that documented the brutal interventions of the Albanian government to monitoring institutions and directly to international observers to change the terms used in their report on the May 11 elections, efforts have been made, which I am pleased to tell Albanians had zero effect.

It is to the greatest credit of the institutions that observed the elections that they stood by word for word all the findings that prove a true electoral farce on May 11th.

The final report fully supports the theses of the preliminary report that the May 11 elections violated the fundamental international principles of elections, embodied in the Copenhagen Charter, the Council of Europe's platform for elections, the Venice Code, and the most serious international documents on elections.

They prove that the electoral code in its articles defining the rules of electoral campaigns was violated 4,500 times with prohibited events during the electoral campaign.

4500 events, which if you count, constitute a sum of tens and hundreds of millions of euros, these events used only to influence the vote of Albanian citizens until the last day 7 million euros for the private organization of the Giro D'Italia.

Bonuses and gifts for voting. Forgiveness of fines for voting. 138 licenses were granted for land planted with cannabis. 500 million euros were given in violation of the law to buy votes. Temporary employment and terror of employees. All ways to manipulate citizens for votes", - said Berisha. /CNA
