The OSCE-ODIHR mission, in its final report on the May 11 elections, also focused on the language used during the election campaign.

The report states that the campaign tone from the two main parties was confrontational with personal attacks.

The OSCE highlights Rama's statements describing the leader of the Democratic Party, Berisha, as an owl, or the democratic leader who called Rama the antichrist or a monster.

“The tone of the campaign was often confrontational, with personal attacks between the two main parties and their leaders.

Mr. Rama repeatedly called his opponent, Mr. Berisha, a “marsh owl,” and other opposition leaders “swamp creatures.” Mr. Berisha, in turn, called Mr. Rama the “Antichrist,” a “monster,” and the government a “narcodictatorship.” Agron Shehaj, the leader of the Opportunities Party, accused Adriatik Lapaj, the leader of the “Albania Becomes” Movement, of benefiting from internal deals in his capacity as a lawyer. In response to these accusations, according to media reports, Mr. Lapaj filed a defamation lawsuit ,” the report said./CNA
