Alimehmeti: Binaj, the candidate who managed to unite all the divided opposition

The Democratic Party's coordinator for Tirana, Ilir Alimehmeti, has stated that Florjan Binaj is the most advantaged independent candidate in these 35 years. Alimehmeti stated on MCN TV that Binaj's campaign is more like a citizens' campaign.

He also commented on the opposition parties' support for Binaj, saying that the DP's support includes logistics, human resources, observers and counters at polling stations, according to him, to help protect the vote.

"It's been a long time since we've seen the opposition unite on one side. And we've never seen an independent candidate so favored in these 35 years. Binaj's campaign is more like a civic campaign, where he himself is in the role of the head of the headquarters, but where the political forces that support him also play an important role."

Binaj is the candidate, he leads the campaign and bears its burden. But to give this campaign logistical and organizational strength, especially on the day of voting and counting, a bridge is needed with the parties that support it, and the DP is the largest among them. The support of the Democratic Party is not only declarative, but also includes logistics, human resources, observers and counters at the polling stations, helping to protect the vote. There have been coordination meetings and every decision has been made in function of a common strategy. Each has their own role and position in this effort, but we all stand for the same cause", he said.

Alimehmeti further said that Binaj's candidacy managed to bring together all the divided opposition parties and this, according to him, is the way to bring change to Tirana.

"This is truly special: an independent candidate who is supported by all opposition parties. It is a new model that seeks to go beyond the old and everyday standards of politics. We believe that this is the way to bring real change to Tirana. Binaj showed that he managed to bring together all the divided opposition parties ," said Alimehmeti. /CNA
