DP MP, Ina Zhupa, accused the government during the interview with the Minister of Education, Ogerta Manastirliu, about the PISA report.

Zhupa said that the report had embarrassing data that exposed the propaganda and the destruction of the pre-university system in Albania.

"After the release of the Pisa results, which were embarrassing data, this is a report that strips away the propaganda and proves the collapse of the pre-university system in Albania. Albania had the biggest decline of any country in the region, compared to itself since 2009. It has fallen by 47-68-50 points. We rank lower than Palestine, than Uzbekistan. We had a bigger decline than all the other countries. The skills of our students have gone back to the year 2000. Illiteracy has deepened", she said.

On the other hand, Manastirliu showed the factors that influenced the poor performance of Albanian students.

According to her, the two main factors are the coronavirus pandemic and the earthquake of November 26, 2019.

"We don't hide behind our fingers, we can't accept to say that PISA was a performance that has moved to the step we would like, but we have made an analysis as an assessment that in the international context has been read by the best experts. To give a context, there are highly developed countries like Germany which in 2022 decreased by 25 points. Our performance was down, but it was affected by several factors, we have analyzed to take measures. There were factors that had an impact, such as the pandemic, the earthquake", emphasized the minister./ CNA
