Rama, with a message to the State Police: Respect the citizens

Prime Minister Edi Rama has asked the State Police to show respect towards citizens.

He emphasized that it is not only important to fight against evil but also to serve the good.  

Rama underlined that stress, burden, and fatigue from the very serious problems that police officers deal with are understandable, but nothing justifies behavior that produces a negative experience in citizens.

"I cannot but express my appreciation for the progress of this force in the last decade and emphasize that despite comparisons that are incomparable, it is enough to look at the number of murders, the average was over 100 per year, so it was a murder every 3 days, while today it is at its lowest historical number, there are still many shortcomings to address and measures to take to transform the police to the point of being among the EU police forces, of course neither the first nor the last but in the golden middle, guaranteeing standards and its continuity, so that no matter how politics develops, the police do not turn back.

An Albanian citizen whose car is stopped and whose documents are requested should be given all due respect because they are taking minutes to do their police work, minutes that should be rewarded with great respect.

Transparency and accountability are key to increasing trust in the State Police.

What is important is not only the fight against evil but also the service to good.

"A negative experience must change, a bitter truth. Stress and burden are understandable, even fatigue from the very serious problems you deal with, but nothing justifies behavior that produces a negative experience in a citizen," said Rama.
