LZHK and Bindja Demokratike join forces/Merge into a single political entity

Today, LZHK and Bindja Demokratike have joined forces, formalizing the merger into a single political entity.

During the meeting, new figures in the party were introduced, lawyer Mr. Arben Muça in the position of Vice President of LZHK and Dr. Artemida Islami Lenz in the position of Head of the Department of Diaspora and Education.

"Today is January 31, 2025, precisely and historically, it is the Day of the Republic of Albania, designated as such 100 years ago, by the represented will of the people of Albania.

If we were to ask Albanian citizens, politicians, and historians a question about when the 'Republic' form of political regime that Albania currently has dates back to, it is likely that most citizens would not know, politicians would likely not answer at all, while historians would likely blush if they were truly known for it.

It should have been expressed in the State Protocol, but it was avoided. At least one statesman of the present-day Republic of Albania should have expressed his opinion on this significant date. No one spoke, as if the Republic of Albania had emerged from obscurity.

In fact, exactly like today 100 years ago, the Constitutional Assembly of Albania, a representative institution elected by the people, on January 31, 1925 declared Albania the 'Albanian Republic' and elected Ahmet Zogu as Head of the Republic, 'President' according to international recognition, where the president is also the head of government.

The Albanian people, suffering and almost ungovernable for many years, now had something to rely on: they had their own state, which would create the conditions for better national cohesion against the dangers and threats that presented themselves to the country in those delicate times and situations.

The communist dictatorship not only did not recognize the 'Albanian Republic', but also sentenced to death in absentia Ahmet Zogu, the statesman who led the longest-lived Albanian state before World War II. The communist dictatorship needed this verdict, among other things, to begin the history of the Republic of Albania on January 11, 1946 and not on January 31, 1925!

The current Albanian state defines in Article 1 that 'Albania is a parliamentary Republic', but 'forgets' to recognize, through the State Protocol, the day of its establishment, as an official holiday, a day of commemoration or a marked day. This indicates a deficit in the national political culture, while we see that 'Republic Day' is listed in the official calendar of most countries in the world! / CNA
