"Difficult opposition to the limits of survival"/MP Çelaj

Kukës District MP, Isuf Çelaj, announced today that he will compete in the primaries held by the Democratic Party on March 1.

According to the MP, these years have been difficult for all democrats, it has been a difficult opposition to the limits of the opposition's survival.

Çelaj highlighted some of the situations the DP has faced, such as the burning of mandates, the abandonment of local elections, and the subsequent situations with Berisha's arrest.

Çelaj emphasized that in the primaries, they should demonstrate the greatest democratic and human values ??in this race, seeing it as a competition within themselves, as a promotion of noble values ??and political coherence and maturity.

"After a term and a half as a deputy of the Kukës District, I have decided to compete in the primaries organized in this district.

These years, for all of us, have been a difficult opposition to the limits of our survival as democrats in many aspects. The burning of mandates, the abandonment of local elections, and the subsequent situations with the aggression that our historical leader Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha and the Democratic Party faced, had their impact even in the ranks of the democrats.

My journey with the Democratic Party began in 1991 with the creation of the Democratic Party - Tropoja Branch.

This is a logical consequence, due to the persecution and internment that my family faced during the communist regime.

The Democratic Party during its government in the years 2005-2013 has done many good deeds, but we have certainly also learned from our mistakes, which probably started from 2007 onwards.

The reasons why I am asking you for another mandate:

- Because, throughout my career, as an academic, a senior leader in public administration at the Ministry of Interior and then in my engagement in politics, it has always been a special mission, supporting every resident of our region who has asked me for help, a mission that will continue in the future without any compromise.

- Because together with you in the 2021 parliamentary elections, we gave the Democratic Party a fantastic victory in our district, winning in all polling stations without exception, in the Tropoja District.

- Because in recent years, despite internal or external blackmail and pressure, I have never, for a single second, questioned either the handing over of the mandate or my positioning on the side of the truth. This is because I have always thought that we as a political family and Albania needed Sali Berisha more than Sali Berisha needed us.

- I have constantly conveyed to the parliament all the relevant problems of our region, but unfortunately they have all fallen on deaf ears. To claim that funding is being taken from the Renaissance by a democratic MP, especially for our region (which, when faced with our revolts and resistance, has called us all sorts of epithets), is like claiming that the sun rises at night.

- With the great desire, that in the next four years of the DP's governance, with the knowledge of parliamentary and governmental procedures, the knowledge and connections I have had over the years, my dedication and the focus that Prime Minister Berisha will have for this region, we will remove it once and for all from the black list of poverty, not only through macro policies, but also by bringing investment, employment and development that has been missing during these 12 years.

"Since it is not in my nature to be divided, angry, or blindly vengeful, I call on the other competitors in the primaries to show together in this race the greatest democratic and human values. Let us see this race within ourselves, as a promotion of noble values ??and political coherence and prudence, never forgetting for a moment that our only enemy or opponent is Edi Rama and his narco-regime," the MP said./CNA
